The man behind the race
Ian Cordova “Popoy” Simon
Founder of Hurricane Power Athletic Club and a standard-bearer for Antiguan distance running, Simon’s defining performance came at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada.

Set on August 28, 1994, the mark remains the official national record. His career also included highly regarded performances around the Caribbean, including top-five half-marathon finishes during his peak years.
